Teaching Classics in the Digital Age

The international, online congress Teaching Classics in the Digital Age will present current approaches and best practices in digital education by bringing together experts from across classics fields, including classical archaeology, Greek and Latin studies, and ancient history.

The goal of this event is to launch a discussion on principles, problems, and the future of teaching classics in the 21st century within and beyond individual fields of study.

The following topics will be addressed:

  • How can digital methods and research approaches be implemented in teaching at the university level?
  • Which technical approaches are suitable for digital education and how can they be used successfully?
  • What are the limitations of and obstacles to applying digital teaching methods to classics?
  • How can digital methods help us to reach out to teachers and students at primary and secondary schools as well as to the broader public?
  • How can digital methods contribute to the dissemination of classics as part of a lifelong education?

This event is organized by the University of Kiel and co-funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union as part of the Ancient Cities project.
