Seminar on art and AI with Philippe Esling and Ninon Devis

The CNRS Centre Internet et Société working group on Artificial Intelligence, Art and Creativity is launching a monthly seminar, in French, on the development and use of AI by artists, and on artistic criticism of AI. The first seminar will be held online on January 26th.

For these monthly meetings, the Centre Internet et Société will invite artists from various backgrounds, as well as engineers who develop or exploit artificial creativity technologies. The sessions will be recorded for an augmented virtual exhibition, planned for the end of 2021.

The first seminar will take place on January 26, 2021, from 15:00 to 16:30, by videoconference, with Philippe Esling and Ninon Devis. They are both researchers at the joint STMS Lab (Sciences et Technologies de la Musique et du Son), as well as members of the ACIDS project (Artificial Creative Intelligence and Data Science), which aims to model musical creativity by developing innovative artificial intelligence and machine learning models.

In this session, the speakers will describe the various projects of the ACIDS team, and share some works composed using artificial intelligence. The heart of the session will be devoted to the paper co-edited by Devis and Esling, “Creativity in the Era of Artificial Intelligence“, which offers an interesting theoretical angle on a number of issues central to the study of artificial creativity.

Please register in advance.
