Online seminar on the epistemology of digital musicology

The IReMus institute for research in musicology at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) will hold an online seminar, in French, on October 20th on “Épistémologie de la musicologie numérique” (“Epistemology of Digital Musicology”).

The seminar will be held on the theme of “Performance, expressivité et perception à travers quelques approches empiriques et systématiques” (“Performance, expressivity and perception through some empirical and systematic approaches”).

Erica Bisesi and Sylvain Caron of the University of  Montreal will speak on “Les Folies françoises de François Couperin : mise en contexte des titres et analyse computationnelle de l’expression” (“Les Folies françoises by François Couperin: contextualization of titles and computational analysis of expression”) while Philippe Lalitte of IReMus and Sorbonne University will speak on “Durée et tempo dans les enregistrements du Sacre du printemps de Stravinsky” (“Duration and tempo in Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring recordings”).

The seminar will be held over Zoom. To attend, please contact the organizers by October 19th, 2020.
