Sylvain Métille is an Associate Professor at Lausanne University where he teaches privacy and data protection, as well as cybercrime law.
He is particularly active in the field of personal data, surveillance IT and cyber laws. He is the Head of the Master of Law in Legal Issues, Crime and Security of Information (M DCS), a joint master program between the School of Criminal Justice, the Law School and the Business School and a member of the Research Ethics Commission of University (CER-Unil). He is also the Head of the Certificate of Advance Studies in Data Protection offered by UniDistance (a Swiss-based online university). Sylvain is also a Partner at the law firm HDC in Lausanne. He obtained his JD (magna com laude,2003) and PhD in Law with Honors (summa cum laude, 2010) from the University of Neuchâtel. Admitted to the Swiss Bar in 2005, he gained a solid experience within several law firms. He has been invited as a Visiting Scholar by the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology (University of California) in 2010-2011.
