Philippe Bornet is senior lecturer at the University of Lausanne, in the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations. After stays in Tübingen and at the University of Chicago, he completed a PhD in the comparative history of religions. He is an editor of the Journal for Religion, Film and Media (http://www.jrfm.eu). His current research deals with interactions between India and Europe and more specifically, Swiss missionaries in South India in the beginning of the twentieth century and the circulation of material and visual items in that context. Future projects include the use of digital tools to retrace the history of specific images and objects as they moved across continents, times, audiences, from one publication context to another.
