Lise Michel is an associate professor in dramaturgy and theatre history at the Faculty of Arts (Department of French) of the University of Lausanne. Her current work focuses on the modalities of performance criticism and on machine theatre in the 17th century, in connection with the development of mechanics and special effects in theatre. She directs a workshop on theatre criticism developed in collaboration with 27 Swiss theatrical institutions. She has directed or participated in the development of several databases related to theatre studies.
