Daniel Gatica-Perez directs the Social Computing Group at Idiap. He is also a professor with the School of Engineering (Institute of Electrical and Micro Engineering) and the College of Humanities (Digital Humanities Institute).  His research combines methods from ubiquitous computing, social media, and machine learning to study how people and technology interface in everyday life. His current work integrates mobile crowdsensing, social media, and citizen science to support cities, public health, and the environment. He also directs the Master of Science in Digital Humanities at EPFL.
