Caroline Roberts is Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Lausanne, and a survey methodologist at FORS, the Swiss Centre of Expertise in the Social Sciences. Her main areas of expertise and research interests are in survey data collection methodology, the evaluation of survey data quality, questionnaire design and the measurement of public opinion, and in ways of combining survey data with alternative data sources.  Her current research investigates the potential for incorporating smartphone app-based data collection in web surveys of the general population, focusing especially on ways to address public concerns about data privacy and reduce respondent burden.  Her teaching is focused on survey methods, public opinion formation and measurement, and data literacy training.  She received her PhD in Social Psychology and her MSc in Social Research Methods from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
