University of St. Gallen : Open position for a PhD in Science and Technology Studies

The Department of Technology Studies (Technology Studies, SHSS) of the University of St. Gallen offer the opportunity to undertake a doctoral degree in the DOK-Program (50-70%, duration: max. 5 years).

The PhD student will work as a research/teaching assistant 10-20% as part of the Technology Studies team of Prof. Tanja Schneider and the remainder of the workload will focus on administrative tasks in the Contextual Studies, which gives the opportunity to gain experience in program management.

 
Selection criteria: The successful candidate is expected to have a M.A. (completed or close to completion) in science and technology studies or a related discipline (sociology, anthropology, human geography) and a strong interest in conducting research in that field, very good oral and written German and English language skills, and experience in conducting qualitative research. Experience with writing and publishing in English is an asset. A thematic interest in food, digital health and/or sustainability, digital economy, and app studies is especially welcome.
