A PhD at the University of Padua

The University of Padua offers a fellowship to complete a PhD in the field of Science and Technology Studies. The successful candidate will be based at Pa.S.T.I.S – Padova Science Technology and Innovation Studies.

Pa.S.T.I.S. is a social sciences research unit focused on the study of science and technology, innovation processes, and communication with particular attention to new media. Since 2008, Pa.S.T.I.S. is part of the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Applied Psychology (FISPPA) of the University of Padua.

Technoscience in the public sphere
This research stream aims at analyzing how emerging technologies are deeply intertwined with everyday life assuming a Science and Technology Studies (STS) perspective and exploiting media as empirical source of data.

PhD candidates are invited to submit research proposals focusing on how discourses and narratives circulating both in traditional media (e.g. newspapers, televisions, radio) and new media (e.g. social networking services and web at large) address emerging technologies, so as to explore  and understand their relationships with broader social contexts

About the UNIPhD programme
The global call for applications offers a total of 50 (36 month long) fellowships, in all scientific areas. This call for applications is published on the UNIPhD web page. Any additions, modifications or updates concerning this call for applications will be published on such web page.

The annual UNIPhD fellow salary, which is paid monthly, amounts to € 32.520 (gross amount).
