Médialab (Sciences Po Paris) is inviting applications for an associate professor position in Computational Social Sciences.

Médialab encourages applications from all candidates who have, during his/her academic career, demonstrated a capacity for innovation to renew methods of data analysis in social science. Methods can apply to various types of data including relational, textual, or visual data. The position is also open to a variety of approaches: machine learning, statistical analysis, network analysis or time series analysis. Special attention will be paid to the candidate’s ability to articulate the methods that s/he develops with research questions in the humanities and social sciences (sociology, history, political science, literature, etc.). The candidate should therefore be comfortable in both cultures.

We expect the candidate to develop his/her own research program, but also to frame his/her activity in a collective setting and take full part in the interactions with other members of the laboratory. In particular, the person recruited will benefit from the médialab experience in engineering and design, so that the methodological innovations that s/he develops are disseminated widely throughout the scientific community and beyond.

How to apply?
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, an application letter, 3 letters of recommendation with a statement of research plans, a syllabus and three representative publications.

Applications must be sudmited in english and be sent (by email) by 6 March 2020 to Jean-Philippe Cointet, chairperson of the selection committee and Barbara Bender, General Secretary of médialab, as well as to the HR academic department of Sciences Po. All applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee,  candidates who are shortlisted will be invited to present their research work during a job talk at Sciences Po in front of the academic community that will take place in Paris in June 2020.
